In 2018, Biocat held a total of 30 events with more than 2,500 participants, actively took part in another 25 events and collaborated on 17 external events.
The BioRegion was at Biospain, one of the most important events in the biotechnology sector, organized by ASEBIO and held in Seville in 2018, from September 25 to 27.
The BioRegion had its own pavilion (photo), coordinated by Biocat, with the booths of Compliance Services, CSV Experts, DR Healthcare, Enantia, Grifols Engineering and Specipig. AbilityPharma, Anaxomics, Capital Cell, XRB (Catalan Biotechnology Reference Network), IQS, Leitat, Molomics and Barcelona Science Park also had visibility.
In 2018, Biocat participated in partnering events at various international fairs to raise visibility of companies and research organizations from the Catalan healthcare and life sciences sector and to pitch the ecosystem’s potential to international investors and companies. One of these was BIO Europe, which took place in November 2018 in Copenhagen (Denmark), and the BIO International Convention, the most important biotechnology event in the world, which was held in Boston in June. The Catalan delegation, with 38 companies, was handled through ICEX and Biocat acted as a facilitator.
Also, the second edition of MedFIT took place in Strasbourg (France) in June. Biocat was there, represented by Raquel Riera, Director of Moebio, who gave a talk on challenges in medical technology and strategies to boost innovation.
Bio€quity Europe comes to Barcelona in 2019
Throughout 2018, Biocat worked to prepare for Bio€quity Europe, the main event for investors devoted to the European biopharmaceutical industry, which would take place in Barcelona for the first time in May thanks to the work of the Regional Host Committee, made up of Biocat, Ysios Capital, ACCIÓ and CataloniaBio & HealthTech.
Organized by BioCentury and EBD Group, Bio€quity Europe is the most influential event in the sector for investors looking to invest in life sciences companies and experts in biopharmaceutical licenses interested in assessing new business opportunities.
“Bio€quity Europe will allow us to show how Barcelona and the BioRegion of Catalonia have become a priority destination for biotechnology investment in Europe,” highlights Jordi Naval, CEO of Biocat.
